“Hello, it’s me. I was wondering if after all these years you’d like to meet…” Known for swearing, stage fright, false eyelashes and big hair, Adele Laurie Blue Adkins has certainly made a name for herself on the stage as a British singer with a soulful voice. Landing a record deal with XL Recordings after a friend posted her demo on MySpace in 2006, Adele released her debut album—19—in 2008 and instantly found critical and commercial success as she made her first appearance on Saturday Night Live. Her second and third albums, 21 and 25, have achieved the same multi-platinum results with hits like “Hello,” “Send My Love,” “Someone Like You” and dozens of others earning her over 100 awards including 18 Billboard Music Awards, 10 Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards, an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.
Besides belting out hits and winning dozens of awards while building her incredible $125 million empire, the 28-year-old phenomenon has settled into a new rhythm and chapter of life with her partner Simon Konecki and their three-year-old son, Angelo. A solid relationship and motherhood have definitely contributed to her down-to-earth, every woman persona that relates to her audiences even more than ever before. But, where exactly does the every-woman Brit feel most at home?
The hills are alive with music—Beverly Hills, that is! In June 2016, Adele purchased a mansion in Beverly Hills from 13-time Emmy Award-winning producer Don Mischer for $9.5 million. Located in the secluded and highly guarded enclave known as Hidden Valley Estates, Adele is expected to make the mansion her home base after she wraps up her 2016 tour, at which time she’ll join her new neighbors—A-list celebrities like Jennifer Anniston, Cameron Diaz, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis—on the block. Known for valuing her friendships, she’ll even be around the corner from one of her very best friends—Oscar winning actress and The Hunger Games star, Jennifer Lawrence.
Described as a Dutch Colonial-style estate with 6,600 square feet, four bedrooms and six bathrooms, Adele’s mansion is absolutely stunning with intricate details marked by French doors, exposed beam ceilings, hardwood floors, multiple fireplaces and plenty of windows to let in natural light. The two-story entry opens to two formal living rooms, a dining room and an office with built in bookshelves and a desk. Absolutely perfect for entertaining, the home includes a wet bar and a modern, eat-in kitchen with an adjacent family room as well as a second floor loft complete with a library and vaulted ceiling. Also upstairs, the bedrooms have window seats that overlook the dense forest of mature trees that surround the property and add an extra level of privacy.
Outside, the property’s grounds are just as remarkable with stone terraces, a private garden and a gazebo with a porch swing, for starters. The nearby swimming pool and spa are perfect to relax on sunny California days with additional seating areas as well as a barbeque and outdoor kitchen situated on a flagstone patio that’s ideal for entertaining guests. As for Adele’s three-year-old son, he has plenty to enjoy with a treehouse behind the gazebo and an outdoor trainset while the family’s miniature dachshund, Louis Armstrong, has his own dog run to enjoy.
Proving to be the perfect location for the extremely private Adele, the gorgeous house is nestled in the hills overlooking Beverly Hills and West Hollywood with a guardhouse and 24-hour security to protect all the homes in the posh Hidden Valley Estates. Of course, with the neighborhood just minutes from Los Angeles, Adele has the best of both worlds—privacy and city living—and can venture into town for a shopping spree with Lawrence, for a quick dinner with Simon or with Angelo for a family-friendly flick with barely any trouble at all!
Beyond her house in the United States, the “Skyfall” songstress also owns a pair of townhouses in London that she purchased for $13 million. In 2012, she added to her growing real estate portfolio by purchasing a seaside retreat in Hove for $3.8 million. And, if her success continues the way we imagine it will, there’s no doubt that she’ll be snagging a few more real estate deals in the coming years. After all, when you’re ranked by Time magazine as one of the most influential people in the world, it only seems fitting that a big-haired, false eyelash wearing and swearing soul singer has plenty of options to call home. Then again, the 28-year-old doesn’t want us to talk about it.
“I just want to make music; I don’t want people to talk about me. All I’ve ever wanted to do was sing. I don’t want to be a celebrity. I don’t want to be in people’s faces, you know, constantly on covers of magazines that I haven’t even known I’m on.”
