“I’ve got my ticket for the long way ‘round. Two bottle whiskey for the way. And I sure would like some sweet company and I’m leaving tomorrow. What’d you say?” A household name among the new generation of Hollywood superstars, Anna Kendrick was born in Portland, Maine in 1985 and knew from an early age she wanted to take the stage. Auditioning for theater productions throughout New York City as a child, Kendrick was only 12 years old when she was cast in the 1998 Broadway production of High Society, which earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical and a Theater World Award.
With undeniable talent, few were surprised when Kendrick was cast in a supporting role for a New York City Opera production of A Little Night Music. Once again, her performance received critical acclaim and put the 18-year-old on the map just as she secured her first silver screen role in the musical comedy Camp. Although the film was a flop, it was enough to push Kendrick even further toward Hollywood as she enjoyed a few small-time roles before catching a huge break in 2008 when she joined The Twilight Saga as Jessica Stanley.
As Twilight dominated the box office, Kendrick’s popularity skyrocketed and opened many doors for the rising star who has enjoyed incredible success ever since. To date, the 31-year-old has starred in over 40 films including Pitch Perfect, Into the Woods and The Accountant with four highly anticipated projects on the horizon. She’s also snagged over 60 award nominations including a highly coveted Academy Award for her performance in the 2009 romantic drama Up in the Air.
Despite earning widespread critical acclaim and enjoying outstanding success on both the stage and the silver screen, Kendrick is actually one of the lowest paid actresses in Hollywood. Currently, she is worth a modest $14 million which, although it is certainly nothing to scoff at, undoubtedly pales in comparison to many of her costars. However, it does seem that Kendrick’s financial situation might be improving especially with four projects in the works not to mention the fact that she earned an upwards of $3 million in 2015.
Obviously not hurting for cash, we can’t feel too sorry for Kendrick since the Pitch Perfect 2 star spends the majority of her free time living lavishly in her stunning Los Angeles mansion in the quaint neighborhood of Beachwood Canyon. Setting the actress back a cool $1.02 million in 2012, the two story home is modest by Hollywood standards but more than makes up for it with its stunning interior and spectacular views of the city.
While the exact square footage is unknown, Kendrick’s home boasts plenty of room with three spacious bedrooms and three and a half bath with a lofted living area and a two-car garage. Hickory wood floors stretch throughout the home with the main floor featuring two guest bedrooms, a living area, dining room and a luxurious kitchen complete with marble countertops, state-of-the-art appliances, a huge center-island and beautiful French doors that lead to a cozy patio. Moving upstairs, the master bedroom takes up the entire second floor with a massive walk-in closet, an en-suite bath and a hot tub as well as a private balcony that opens to panoramic views of Los Angeles.
Leaving her mark and signature style in every room of the house from the neutral tones and bright accent pieces to the sky-lit rooms and chic décor, Kendrick has an eye for interior design but the same can’t be said about her taste in cars. Rather than driving around town in a sporty Audi or Mercedes-Benz, the Trolls actress chooses to cruise around in a modest Toyota Prius. Of course, having since admitted her obsession with Taco Bell and her love of “fourth meal,” perhaps Kendrick is more financially savvy than the world gives her credit for. After all, every penny saved from a hefty car payment can easily buy more tacos!
Apart from splurging on her Los Angeles home and even her late night trips to Taco Bell, Kendrick is far from materialistic and, rather than fill her house with stuff or her garage with luxury cars, actually prefers to spend her money helping others. Setting a great example that even the lowest paid actress in Hollywood can make a difference, Kendrick has supported dozens of charitable organizations and nonprofits over the last decade including Cancer Research UK, Lipstick Angels, the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and The Trevor Project. No stranger to using her voice and place in the spotlight to raise awareness for causes close to her heart like cancer research and cancer survivor support, Kendrick even made a large donation to DonorsChoose.org in 2016 to provide funding for over 30 classroom projects across her home state of Maine. Now that’s what it means to give back!
