“I Am Cait.” Winning the 1976 Olympic Decathlon Gold Medal and named the “World’s Greatest Athlete,” Bruce Jenner was considered a star athlete throughout the 1970s and early 1980s with his face seen on everything from cereal boxes to Playgirl magazine. By the 1990s, Jenner’s fame evolved once again when he married Kris Kardashian and became a stepfather to Kris’s children: Kourtney, Kimberley, Khloe and Rob. Nearly a decade later, Jenner returned to the spotlight when he and the rest of the Kardashian and Jenner brood made their reality television debut on Keeping Up with the Kardashians in 2007.
Eight years later in 2015, Jenner’s fame took a different turn when the former Olympian announced he identified as a trans woman. Divorcing Kris and changing his name to Caitlynn, Jenner transformed himself officially on September 25, 2015. To document her gender change and to share her story of transition with the world, she starred in the reality series I Am Cait from 2015 to 2016, which only added to her fame and $100 million net worth.
Aside from her evolving looks, the 66-year-old Jenner has experienced ongoing transformations in her personal life especially when it comes to her home in Malibu, California where she has given great thought to every detail and decoration. Giving Architectural Digest a sneak peek inside the home in 2015, Jenner said, “I think what this transition has done for me is that for the first time in my life I am able to express myself.” So how does this self-expression translate to her Malibu abode? Let’s take a look!
Admitting that Kris typically designed their lavish homes, Jenner was thrilled to leave her old life behind and start fresh when she ended her $14,500 monthly lease on a rental above Malibu’s Broad Beach and spent a cool $3.5 million in June 2015 on a stunning Malibu mansion. Described as a “mountain oasis” nestled on 11 private acres, the mountain-retreat overlooks El Pescador State Beach and offers gorgeous 360-degree views of the ocean, mountains and canyons. Then again, what else would you expect from the home of a former Olympian who had the chutzpah to start over after raising a gang of reality television glamour girls with the formidable Kris Jenner?
Stretching across 3,500 square feet with four bedrooms and four baths, the home includes a long list of amenities such as heated floors, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, a barbeque area and a stunning gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a state-of-the-art Wolf range. Taking full advantage of the home’s location, the property’s floor plan is designed to “bring the outdoors in” with huge pocket patio doors and floor-to-ceiling windows in addition to a covered patio, pool and spa for relaxing in style. Downstairs, Jenner has plenty of room to add an office, gym or create an additional guest suite.
Hiring New York-based designer Lori Margolis to help with decorating, Margolis told Architectural Digest, “Caitlyn always lived in beautiful houses, but designing them was Kris Jenner’s domain—Caitlyn wasn’t really involved. This time, she really wanted to put her personal stamp on the house.” Doing exactly that, Jenner set out to create a space of peace and tranquility that also reflected femininity and her own inner strength. The results are absolutely remarkable!
Choosing furnishings that blend the old and new glamour of Hollywood with California’s laid back beach vibes, Jenner’s Malibu home is the ultimate in chic and style with a monochromatic color palette and an array of textures amid light hardwood floors, plush rugs, flowing curtains and modern furniture. At the heart of the home and a great example of Jenner’s true sense of style is the living room where a Moroccan rug and Tibetan lambs’ wool chairs soften the room centered on Jenner’s favorite addition—a 12-foot long couch that offers plenty of space for the 6’2” star to kick back and relax.
Moving throughout the rest of the home, Jenner’s master suite is undeniably her favorite room in the house with breathtaking oceanfront views, a plush bed and a walk-in closet filled with clothes, shoes and accessories. Jenner’s self-described “glam-room” next door to the master suite is a woman’s dream come true with lighted mirrors and towers of beauty and hair products where she fixes her hair and makeup each morning.
“To be able to wake up in the morning, be yourself, get dressed, get ready to go out, and just be like a normal person. That’s a wonderful feeling to go through life,” Jenner told Vanity Fair. “I’ve never been able to do that; it’s always been confusion, it’s always been, you know, I’ve got one side with boy clothes, the other side with women’s clothes. It’s like I cleaned the whole closet out—the boy’s stuff is gone, okay?”
Obviously content with her new life and thrilled with the fresh start she’s found in Malibu, Jenner’s home is the epitome of transformation and femininity, strength and courage. If you don’t believe us, just take a look at her gorgeous estate and the life she’s made in her beautiful mountain oasis!
