“Near, far, wherever you are, I believe that the heart does go on….” Attributing much of her success to how she was raised in a poverty-stricken but happy home in Canada, Celine Dion produced her first record as a teenager when her manager and future husband, Rene Angelil, financed it by mortgaging his own house. Because of her heartfelt lyrics filled with the joys of falling in love and the tragic pain of heartbreak, Dion skyrocketed to international stardom by the 1980s with a number of popular French-speaking albums before signing on with Epic Records to become a beloved American star.
Among dozens of international hits like “The Power of Love,” “Because You Loved Me,” “I’m Your Angel” and “My Heart Will Go On,” the 48-year-old Canadian crooner has built an incredible reputation as one of the best-selling artists of all time with over 200 million records sold worldwide. The five-time Grammy Award-winner’s success doesn’t stop there, however, as her five-star theatrical show at Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas Strip is the most successful residency of all time and has helped the beauty build an empire fit for a diva to the tune of $630 million.
It’s no small wonder then that, once Dion was well established in Las Vegas, she and Angelil set out to build their dream home and a private escape in the exclusive community of Jupiter Island, Florida. Announcing that their nine-year-old son would soon be a big brother to fraternal twin boys in late 2010, the couple purchased 5.7 acres next to the Atlantic Ocean with big plans to create a stunning beachfront mansion offering breathtaking views of the clear blue waters and white sandy beaches with a waterpark and playground fit for a Canadian princess and her boys.
Rumored to set the diva back $72 million, the Bahamian-inspired estate located at 215 South Beach Road measures over 10,000 square feet and is filled with large windows that allow plenty of natural light into the already vibrant home. Boasting five spacious bedrooms with each including its own en-suite bathroom and ocean views, the entire home is designed on an open concept floorplan with a formal dining room complete with vaulted ceilings and a gourmet kitchen that is surrounded on one side by a wall of windows and French doors that make cooking feel like less a chore thanks to the gorgeous beach landscape. As for the master suite, it’s a sight to behold with an extravagant walk-in closet designed with automated carousels for the singer’s massive collection of clothes and shoes.
Decorated in a neutral color palette with recessed lighting, hardwood floors and wainscoting details from floor to ceiling, the Florida estate gives new meaning to the idea of a luxurious beach getaway. As if the 10,000 square foot main house wasn’t enough for the singer and her family, Dion wanted to ensure her guests—likely her 13 siblings and their families—were more than comfortable during their visits so she added five separate pavilions on the property to include two guest homes each with four bedrooms, a kitchen and living area. But, as true divas go, she didn't stop there.
In addition to the private beach just yards from her back door, Dion shocked the world when she set out to build her own private waterpark in her backyard for her family and friends to enjoy without the hassle of being followed or harassed by the paparazzi. Made up of 500,000 gallons of water, the park includes two interconnecting resort pools complete with twisting water slides, a bridge and a lazy river that rivals any public water park. For those looking to relax and enjoy the scenery, a third infinity pool overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and includes a peninsula and a fire pit perfect for enjoying those beautiful Florida nights.
Shortly after Angelil was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2013, Dion put her Jupiter Island estate on the market for $72.5 million before reducing the price to $62.5 million in 2014 with the hopes of attracting a buyer in order to give her more time to focus on her family. Caring for Angelil until his death on January 14, 2016, the singer eventually sold her 16-room house in Quebec for $25.5 million in February shortly before she announced her plans to move permanently to Henderson, Nevada to raise her three sons—Rene-Charles, Nelson and Eddy—and resume her residency on the Las Vegas Strip.
The home, which is valued at $1.2 million, features three bedrooms, a swimming pool, gourmet kitchen, bar and playground. And, while it pales in comparison to the diva’s Florida mansion, it offers something far more valuable than a waterpark—a lifetime of memories with her true love. Sharing the same sentiment with her fans during her return to the stage on February 23, 2016, Dion said, “Whether he was seated in his seat right there, in the balcony, backstage or at home with the kids, he’s always been onstage with me and nothing will ever change that. We were one and nothing has changed. We will always be one.”
