“Whatever happened to chivalry? Does it only exist in 80s movies? I want John Cusack holding a boom-box outside my window…” Hailing from Scottsdale, Arizona, Emma Stone knew at four years old that she wanted to become an actress and spent the majority of her childhood honing her skills on stage. Eventually dropping out of high school after one semester, she convinced her parents and moved to Los Angeles with her mother where she auditioned for every role imaginable. Despite coming up empty-handed after every audition, Stone refused to give up and completed high school online while working at a dog-treat bakery to help her mother make rent.
Her persistence finally paid off in 2004 when she made her television debut in VH1’s In Search of the New Partridge Family, which she followed up with a handful of small television and theater appearances. Hitting rock bottom after she was passed over for the part of Claire Bennet in the NBC drama Heroes in 2007, Stone’s luck soon changed when she made her feature film debut in the comedy Superbad where she turned heads and wowed audiences and critics alike with her performance.
Finally starting to get noticed, Stone appeared in a string of successful blockbusters like Zombieland before landing her first starring role in Easy A, which she followed up with successful hits like Crazy, Stupid, Love and The Help. Along the way, she’s been nominated for 76 awards and, although she has yet to take home a coveted Oscar, there’s no doubt one is in her future. In the meantime, she’ll just have to settle as one of the highest paid actresses in the world, which definitely isn’t a bad consolation prize at all!
According to Forbes, Stone took home $6.5 million in earnings last year alone. And, if you’ve been paying attention, you’ve already done the math and noticed that her hefty payday makes up 65% of her total $10 million net worth. Add in the fact that her career is snowballing into massive success and there’s no question that she’ll only add to her millionaire status in the years to come! So how exactly does the 27-year-old choose to spend her fortune?
In November 2012, Stone made her first major purchase when she bought a 3,800-square foot mansion nestled on half an acre of lush greenery in Beverly Hills, California for $2.5 million. Offering four bedrooms, a state-of-the-art kitchen, quaint breakfast nook and fireplace, walk-in pantry and plenty of living space, the villa might not feature a long list of frivolous amenities like other celebrity abodes but that doesn’t mean it isn’t exquisite.
Stone spent a good chunk of change on renovations to add an indoor spa and a stunning home theater. The Easy A star also added a Jacuzzi in the master bedroom perfect for relaxing after a long day on set. Of course, if she really needs to take the edge off, she can head over to the walk-in wine cellar that’s stocked with some of the most exotic wines in the world.
Moving outside, Stone’s gorgeous Beverly Hills estate has a beautiful terrace that extends almost the entire length of the house and offers breathtaking views of the city. Aside from the meticulously manicured lawn, there’s also a spacious heated swimming pool, but the luxury doesn’t stop there! Beyond the pool is Stone’s three-car garage where she keeps her charming Mini Cooper for running around town as well as her powerful Audi S6.
While Stone is a hot topic among tabloids, the actress is surprisingly private when it comes to her personal life and spending habits apart from spending a small fortune on her 90210 pad. As a Hollywood superstar, she’s definitely keeping up with the Joneses, however, and is usually spotted rocking the latest fashions from high profile brands like Alexander Wang, Slouchy, Rag & Bone, K Brand and dozens of others.
Other than dressing the part of a Hollywood star and fashion icon, Stone spends her hard-earned cash modestly on herself while ensuring she does her best to improve the lives of others like so many of her fellow celebrity friends. In fact, since the beginning of her career, she’s supported a long list of nonprofits including the Worldwide Orphans Foundation, Revlon Run for Women and the Melanoma Research Alliance.
Aside from writing big checks, Stone is no stranger to using her fortune and fame as one of Hollywood’s sexiest actresses to raise awareness for causes close to her heart. That’s right, the charismatic Gwen Stacy of The Amazing Spiderman recently joined Alicia Keys, Jessica Alba and a slew of other celebrities in a mission to raise funds for cancer research with Stand Up to Cancer. Other than fundraising, you can catch Stone in La La Land with Ryan Gosling and in the upcoming sports comedy-drama Battle of the Sexes where she’ll star as Billie Jean King. We can’t wait!
