“There’s a lot of baggage that comes along with our family, but it’s like Louis Vuitton baggage.” First introduced to the world through her friendship with socialite Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian may have worked as Hilton’s stylist but she had no trouble gaining fame for herself when her signature curves and remarkable beauty landed her in the spotlight. By 2007, Kardashian was well on her way to the top when a sex tape from 2003 with her ex-boyfriend Ray J was leaked. The same year, the entire Kardashian clan became household names when they landed Keeping Up with the Kardashians on the E! Network. Reality television and social media haven’t been the same since.

With the series still going strong after a dozen seasons and numerous spinoffs, the world can’t seem to get enough of Kardashian and her glamorous life in the spotlight. Now going as Kim Kardashian West after tying the knot with rapper Kanye West in 2014, Kardashian is one of America’s biggest reality stars whose life as a businesswoman, model, socialite, wife and mother of two has sealed her fate in the spotlight for years to come. Heck, even her famous rear end and ever-changing looks are of constant interest to her fans.

Since rising to celebrity status as a member of what Time magazine calls social media royalty, the 35-year-old is even considered a pop-culture phenomenon who has one of the most recognizable names, faces and derrieres in the entire world. As the highest paid reality television star of 2015 with over $53 million in total salary earnings, Kardashian has built an impressive $140 million empire that doesn’t even include her famous husband’s $145 million net worth. So, aside from her lavish taste, notorious shopping sprees and keen eye for style, how does the socialite spend her fortune and where exactly does she and West call home?

In 2013, Kimye bought a 9,000 square foot Mediterranean-style mansion in Bel Air but, despite the home being only three years old and in incredible shape, they immediately set out to renovate the property by completely overhauling both the interior and exterior. Moving in with Kris Jenner during the remodel, the couple set out to transform the stunning Mediterranean home into a modern abode by replacing the terracotta roof and repainting the yellow exterior in periwinkle after revamping the roofline by tearing down and rebuilding every wall in the house. Spending $2 million on updates, they replaced the flooring, added floor-to-ceiling windows and two-story glass panes, renovated the outdoor patio, replaced the pool house and relocated the pool.

Essentially only using the structure of the home itself to create their dream home, Kimye’s major overhaul included adding a gym, hair and makeup salon, movie theater, bowling alley and basketball court in addition to indoor and outdoor pools. Finally completing the project with their signature style of all-white paired with stainless steel appliances and modern furniture, the couple was thrilled with the results but, with construction taking much longer than expected, had already set their sights on creating their dream home after purchasing Lisa Marie Presley’s three-acre estate in Hidden Hills for $20 million in 2014.

“When we bought our Bel Air house, we didn’t have a baby, we weren’t even pregnant,” Kardashian told People magazine in early 2016. “After you have a baby, you realize that you need so many other things and a different kind of space. So being in the city is a different life. We wanted to be away and have more privacy.”

Now busy remodeling their 16,000 square foot mansion that boasts eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and eight fireplaces, the couple has finally moved out of Jenner’s home and taken up residence in their Bel Air estate until their second remodel is complete.

“Kim and Kanye felt badly for how long they’ve been at Kris’ so they packed up and moved to Bel Air three weeks ago,” a source reported. “They’ve been trying to sell the Bel Air place, but they desperately needed somewhere to go. They also felt it was time to live as their own little family now that Saint is past the newborn stage.”

With two swimming pools, two spas, numerous fountains, a rose garden and their very own private vineyard, it’s no surprise that Kardashian and West are anxiously waiting on the remodel to be complete before settling down and living happily ever after in Hidden Hills. Coincidentally enough, the City of Angels estate offers even more convenience for the socialite and her family as it’s just down the street from her mom. Come on now, you didn’t imagine Kim would run too far from the cougar’s den, now did you?
