“Can’t read my, can’t read my, no he can’t read my poker face…” Born and raised in Manhattan, New York, Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta learned how to play the piano when she was four years old. By the age of 11, she was accepted into Julliard but, instead, attended a private Catholic school where she appeared in high school plays before giving her first public performance at a New York City nightclub at 14. Eventually enrolling in New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, she dropped out to pursue a musical career and later gained critical and commercial success when her debut album—The Fame—took over the airways in 2008 with chart-topping hits like “Poker Face” and “Just Dance.”
Initially intending to take the stage name “Radio Gaga” as a reference to the song by Queen, the singer’s music producer credits Lady Gaga’s stage name with an accident caused by his text messenger’s auto correct. The new name obviously stuck as the 30-year-old phenomenon has become one of the best-selling musicians of all time with a dozen Guinness World Records, six Grammy Awards and three Brit Awards to her name as well as a net worth of $275 million. So where does she keep all of her trophies? In her stunning six-acre Malibu mansion that set her back a whopping $23 million in 2014.
Known for her unique sense of style and ever-changing appearance, Gaga’s mansion certainly lives up to the entertainer’s extravagant reputation and is a stunning Mediterranean-style villa built in 2005 that offers both oceanfront and mountain views from an impressive six acres. But, the views weren’t the only selling point for the singer, songwriter and actress! When Gaga learned the estate came with an eight-horse stable as well as a riding arena and trails, she instantly fell in love knowing she finally had a place to ride her beautiful white horse, which was a gift from her record company, other than to the grocery store.
Beyond the attractive stable and well-manicured grounds, the exterior of the property offers Lady Gaga and her guests plenty of things to do all with a view of the ocean. The saltwater pool and poolside Jacuzzi are perfect for relaxation as well as the numerous outdoor patios and fire pits that offer plenty of comfortable seating for intimate dinner parties and afternoon cookouts. For guests who are a little more active, there’s even a full size bocce ball court to enjoy.
Moving to the interior (which truly steals the show), Lady Gaga’s Malibu home stretches across 10,270 square feet and includes five bedrooms and a dozen bathrooms with open-concept living and dining rooms that feature high ceilings, crystal chandeliers, exposed beams and plenty of natural light. A far cry from the outlandish and bold costumes that have earned the award-winner her eccentric reputation, the entire home is elegant and chic with the tone set by the living area’s neutral palette, which is enhanced by dark wood finishes, ivory couches and French doors that open to patio views of the ocean.
Continuing the understated and natural elegance into the kitchen and dining area, the shared room is filled with stainless steel appliances, plenty of cabinetry and limestone floors with stool seating at the center island. The dining table is centered under a rustic chandelier with a glass breezeway that adds a beautiful touch and allows fresh breezes to drift in from the nearby ocean.
The master suite is a sight to behold with an oversized king canopy bed surrounded by flowing white drapes that match the window-filled wall that opens out to a private balcony overlooking the ocean. Two loungers with ottomans flank the fireplace with his and her walk-in closets on each side of the room to keep things organized especially with someone who has as many outfits as Lady Gaga! Following similar suit as the bedroom, the master bath (as well as most of the 11 other bathrooms) are complete with marble countertops, walk-in showers and rustic wood doors.
Aside from the stables and the gorgeous interior, one of the many highlights of the home and easily one of Lady Gaga’s favorite additions is the entire lower level. Here, there is a two-lane Brunswick bowling alley decorated in 1960s style and complete with basketball free-throw machines. Just down the hall is what the singer calls her “bat cave,” which has a secret passageway that connects to the main living room. As if that wasn’t enough, Lady Gaga even has her own private cinema with large drapes that black out the room and plush couches as well as a bar for anyone wanting to sip on a cocktail while watching the latest silver screen hit.
Add in the fact that Gaga has her own spa, gym and an 800-bottle wine cellar and we’re fairly certain that the 30-year-old diva has no plans on selling anytime soon. Besides, what’s the point when she has everything she could ever need—ocean views, plenty of room for her horse, a movie theater, swimming pool, safe room, spa and gym—right within her reach?
