“I came in like a wrecking ball, I never hit so hard in love…” Launched into the spotlight at an early age thanks to her dad, actor and country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus eventually paved her own path to stardom by way of the Disney Channel when she was cast as the star of Hannah Montana in 2006. Instantly becoming a teen idol, the young Cyrus took her fame to the stage where she signed a recording contract with Hollywood Records and released her debut studio album—Meet Miley Cyrus—in 2007. Since then, the 23-year-old has transformed in front of her fans from a Disney star into a best-selling female artist thanks to hits like “See You Again,” “The Climb,” “Party in the U.S.A.” and “Wrecking Ball.”
Accustomed to making headlines and turning heads for her controversial behavior both in front of and behind the cameras, few were surprised when Cyrus reunited with longtime love and fiancé Liam Hemsworth in 2016. Taking matters into her own hands when it came to keeping an eye on her beau, Cyrus did the unthinkable and purchased the home right next door—a beachfront property in Malibu’s Ramirez Canyon—in February 2016 for $2.5 million, which is mere pocket change when you’re already worth $200 million and counting.
Built in 1948 and stretching across two and a half secluded acres, Cyrus’s new beachfront home is approximately 1,384 square feet and includes four bedrooms and three and a half baths that are rumored to be just as bold as the singer herself. What do we mean? While most of the house has been restored with modern touches, there are numerous quirky design elements like Spiderman wallpaper in the bathroom and bright green carpeting in the living room that leave many to wonder if the wild Cyrus will update the décor or embrace it for what it is.
But, before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s take a look at the exterior to get the full effect of Cyrus’s two-story abode. Located in a prestigious gated community just above Malibu’s famed Paradise Point, guests arrive at the property after winding down a long driveway through the woods and over a wooden bridge that crosses a stream. Surrounded by a lush green landscape, the house itself is contemporary with a split-level and boxy façade that is painted in earth colors and enhanced by daringly bright turquoise siding.
Moving inside, Cyrus’s home is packed with many luxurious amenities—aside from the kooky décor—and includes an open floor plan filled with custom glass doors, high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows to bring in plenty of natural light. The main floor features a combination living and dining area with a sophisticated vaulted ceiling and modern chandeliers with a breathtaking kitchen that includes state-of-the-art granite countertops fit for a chef. Carrying Cyrus’s modern taste throughout the home with eclectic artwork and décor, even the master suite is a site to behold as it offers its own balcony and expansive view of the grounds.
And, speaking of grounds, the outside of Cyrus’s Malibu home gives the star (and her five dogs) plenty of room to relax thanks to a hot tub and gazebo sheltered by the pristine landscape, not to mention Paradise Cove beach is only a short walk away. Yet, despite its picturesque Malibu feel, many argue that Cyrus has bigger plans for her modest two-story house—to annex it to Hemsworth’s sizable estate with guest cottages and a swimming pool—once she says “I do.” After all, it wouldn’t be the first time she’s up and moved.
Making her first foray into real estate as a Disney tween, Cyrus purchased her family’s first home—an 8,900 square-foot mansion in Toluca Lake—for $3.4 million in 2004. Living in the home only briefly before purchasing a ranch-style house in Studio City for $3.9 million, the controversial star unapologetically sold the family mansion in 2015 for $6 million as her parents moved down the street. Weeks later, Cyrus purchased a 5,165 square-foot estate for $4 million in Hidden Hills, California and moved in next to a long list of famous neighbors including Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Drake, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
Enamored with every inch of the 4.5-acre property, Cyrus’s Hidden Hills estate includes seven bedrooms and six full baths with exquisite amenities like hardwood floors, beamed ceilings, a gourmet kitchen, wet bar, wine cellar and more. Designed for outdoor living with a stable for 10 horses and a riding area, Cyrus has vegetable and fruit gardens, a chicken coop and even a vineyard that suits the well-known animal lover and her menagerie of pets. To complete the property’s country charm, the home even has a covered veranda that boasts gorgeous views along with a swimming pool, outdoor fireplace and barbecue pit ideal for summer cookouts with family and friends.
Aside from her real estate holdings and impending nuptials with Hemsworth, Cyrus is staying busy these days working on her upcoming sixth studio album in collaboration with Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips in addition to joining The Voice as a celebrity couch and starring in the Woody Allen directed series for Amazon Prime. Come on now, how else can she pay for all those houses if she doesn’t stay incredibly busy?
