“Bang, bang into the room (I know you want it!)” From her immense talent and unique performances to her body and derriere that are enough to stop traffic, Nicki Minaj is one of the most recognizable names in the music business today. Born in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago as Onika Tanya Maraj and growing up in South Jamaica, Minaj initially intended on becoming an actress before her talent as a singer was discovered thanks to three mixtapes she released between 2007 and 2009. Landing a record deal with Young Money Entertainment in 2009, Minaj saw her debut album Pink Friday climb to the top of the Billboard charts the following year.
With her star status skyrocketing as a rapper, singer and songwriter thanks to hits like “Anaconda,” “Bang Bang,” “Starships” and “Super Bass,” Minaj’s talent hasn’t gone unrecognized thanks to 11 BET Awards, six American Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, a Women in Music Rising Star Award and 11 Grammy nominations. Along the way, wardrobe malfunctions on live television, feuds with other stars and heated public encounters have only enhanced her staying power in Hollywood as one of the most influential female rappers of all time.
Aside from her dozens of awards and long list of controversies, Minaj has also managed to sell 20 million singles in the United States and over 60 million singles worldwide in addition to dabbling in acting in films like Ice Age: Continental Drift, The Other Woman and Barbershop: The Next Cut. Adding in her endorsement deals with MAC Cosmetics, Adidas and Pepsi as well as her stint as a judge on American Idol in 2013 and it’s no surprise that the 33-year-old has amassed a $50 million net worth which, as you’ll see, is well spent on her lavish mansion.
Despite their relationship marked by gossip of ongoing feuds, breakups, engagements and continuous ups and downs, Minaj and Meek Mill recently raised eyebrows when they moved into a mansion in one of Beverly Hills’ gated communities to prove their love is stronger than ever. What’s even more astonishing is the price tag! Rather than purchasing the home outright in order to give the couple plenty of time to find their dream home (especially after Mill violated his probation and was sentenced to house arrest), Minaj decided to fork over $30,000 each month until they find their permanent love nest. No, we aren’t kidding!
Located high on a hill and overlooking the canyons and mountains with the bright lights of Los Angeles in the distance, the lavish mansion is definitely fit for a rap queen and her lover as it stretches across approximately 11,500 square feet with a total value of $11.8 million. Built in 2008 and boasting nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms, the home’s interior embodies the idea that “less is more” and is immaculate with vaulted ceilings and custom wood beams, a neutral color palette and an array of floor to ceiling windows and French doors that allow plenty of natural light.
Behind the massive front door, a two-story entry painted in a cloud mural greets guests and opens to the living room and family room before reaching the formal dining room, gourmet kitchen and breakfast area. Stone and hardwood flooring tie each of the rooms together with six stone fireplaces scattered throughout the home with virtually all of the wood detail—from the furniture to the crown molding and cabinetry—custom built for the house.
Outside, the home’s exterior is just as exquisite with a winding stone driveway surrounded by a rolling lawn and beautiful California landscaping tall enough to add privacy without hindering the stunning views. Apart from the guesthouse and separate entry, terraces provide Zen-like relaxation venues while the pool, spa and outdoor barbeque area are perfect for entertaining. Of course, one of the biggest perks of renting the home—at least for Minaj and Mill—is the five-car garage that offers more than enough room for Minaj’s growing collection of luxury cars and Mill’s numerous ATVs.
But, despite the luxury of living in Beverly Hills, the five-car garage, pool and dozens of other amenities, Minaj likely won’t lease for long even if she can afford it! Instead, we imagine the legendary “Anaconda” rapper will give even more meaning to the lyrics “was in shout outs with the law, but he live in a palace, bought me Alexander McQueen, he was keeping me stylish” when she finally finds a place to call her own. Whether that’s with Mill or without, we’ll just have to wait and see.
