“There’s a million reasons why I should give you up, but the heart wants what it wants...” Recently making headlines after her high profile breakup with Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez has done far more than woo the Canadian “Baby” crooner in her 24 years. Landing her first acting gig on Barney & Friends in 2002 at only 10 years old, Gomez continued to pave her way to success with minor appearances in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody before landing a starring role on the Disney Channel’s The Wizards of Waverly Place in 2007. Wrapping up the series in 2012, Gomez literally grew up in front of her audience as she worked to redefine herself as a teen idol by launching her production company known as July Moon Productions in 2008.
Continuing to star in films like Ramona and Beezus, Monte Carlo and the exploitation film Spring Breakers, Gomez eventually made the crossover into music with Selena Gomez & The Scene. Now known for hits like “The Heart Wants What It Wants,” “Hands to Myself” and “Love You Like a Love Song,” the 24-year-old has not only earned an MTV Video Music Award, a People’s Choice Award and 15 Teen Choice Awards for her work, she’s also built an astonishing $45 million empire as an actress, singer, fashion designer and executive producer.
At only 19 years old, Gomez made her first big purchase in 2011 when she spent $2.175 million on a mansion in Los Angeles’ affluent Tarzana community. Immediately renovating the house to bring it to an impressive 6,630 square feet, Gomez was thrilled with the traditional California abode complete with six bedrooms and nine baths on an open floor plan with a chef’s kitchen, bay windows, high ceilings and both formal living and dining rooms. However, the single acre and its basketball court, swimming pool, Bocce Ball court and orchard simply wasn’t enough for the young singer who turned around and sold the estate to rapper Iggy Azalea and her boyfriend, Los Angeles Lakers star Nick Young, in 2014 for $3.45 million.
By 2015, Gomez had already moved on and purchased a 7,700 square foot Mediterranean-style mansion in the prestigious Hidden Hills neighborhood of Calabasas, California. Boasting six bedrooms and seven bathrooms with Spanish-style sitting areas that add to each room’s charm, Gomez declared her new home “an entertainer’s dream” thanks to its luxurious open floor plan, eat-in kitchen and private movie theater perfect for watching the latest Hollywood blockbusters with a few of her closest friends.
Beyond the gorgeous wood front door, a luxurious entryway with a winding staircase in gleaming dark wood greets guests as they round the corner into the main living room where two-story high ceilings, a balcony overlooking the sitting area and a stunning marble mantle over the stone fireplace are sure to take their breath away. Decorated in neutrals and enhanced by dark crown molding, the sitting area is a musician’s dream with a white grand piano, plenty of natural light and an oversized couch. Moving through rounded archways into the kitchen, bar seating is an option for guests as well as an informal dining nook ideal for intimate dinners. But, the amenities don’t stop there.
Just off the kitchen, a stone wine cellar adds to the home’s luxury as do the hardwood floors, spacious bedrooms and glowing marble bathrooms that feature large soaking tubs and spas for relaxing in true Hollywood style. The walk-in master closet—holding Gomez’s many outfits and shoes, of course—is larger than many single-family residences, to say the least.
Apart from the home’s lavish interior, the backyard of Gomez’s Hidden Hills estate is also nothing short of spectacular. The space features two al fresco dining areas as well as a large u-shaped swimming pool with a stone patio and a sizeable outdoor covered kitchen complete with a brick pizza oven. How’s that for partying in style?
Yet, not even the massive walk-in closet, marble spas or all the brick oven pizzas imaginable could keep Gomez from selling her gorgeous estate after only a year and a half. Why? Shortly after moving in, a stalker was arrested in the guest house, which ignited numerous other reports of intruders and calls to 911 following the incident. No longer feeling safe in her own home, Gomez gave up on the property and listed it for $4.5 million. Desperate to get rid of it, she accepted a $3.3 million off from rapper French Montana in September 2016. For Montana, this just might be the perfect move since he now shares a neighborhood with his famous ex-girlfriend Khloe Kardashian.
As for Gomez, the 24-year-old might technically be homeless right now but we’re absolutely positive she’ll bounce back and find another mansion of her dreams in no time at all. In the meantime, with a busy life on the road traveling with her international Revival Tour, hotels are a lot easier on the young star as she makes her way through the ranks of Hollywood as one of the biggest child star success stories of the decade! And, as her best friend Taylor Swift will admit, Gomez has definitely made a huge leap of faith by getting over her Bieber fever and moving on!
